Robertson Park Youth Center

Robertson Park Youth Center

Operated by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture, the Robertson Park Youth Center serves middle school students as a place to congregate after school for social interaction, study groups, field trips, and a host of other activities. Serving students from Lakelands Park, Ridgeview and Kingsview Middle Schools, the center also features an indoor climbing wall and a computer lab.

The Robertson Park Youth Center, the City’s first “green building,” welcomes its young patrons with a host of features that minimize the building’s impact on the environment. From the initial site location down to the chemical make-up of the paint, at every step this building is designed to be innovative and environmentally friendly. Designed to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification status, the building’s green features include a geothermal heating and cooling system that saves energy and reduces air pollution; cabinets made from rapidly-renewable wheatboard; floors made from recycled tires and rubber; ENERGY STAR windows; light sensors to control lighting and save energy; forest certified wood to promote sustainable forestry techniques; and insulation made from recycled blue jeans.
