Activities & Exhibitions

Celebrate! Gaithersburg

Throughout the festival you’ll find exciting activities and exhibitors, local and international artisans, crafters and importers selling one-of-a-kind hand crafted treasures. There will also be dozens of vendors offering information and resources for Montgomery County residents.

PNC’s Grow Up Great – “Learning is All Around Me!” Mobile Learning Adventure (MLA) is a traveling exhibit that teaches the importance of early childhood education while engaging parents in fun activities with their children. A part of PNC Grow Up Great, a $350 million, multi-year initiative that began in 2004 to help children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life, the MLA includes interactive kiosks and the “When I Grow Up” station, where kids dress up as different professionals and have their picture superimposed on an appropriate background. In addition, parents can take home activity books and learning kits that demonstrate how to take everyday moments and turn them into learning opportunities.

The Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department will host The Fire Safety House, with three rooms of activities where children ages 4 - 12 can learn hands-on fire safety skills. The trailer simulates real situations such as smoke in a room and helps children learn how to escape. The Fire Safety House has been a popular feature at Celebrate! Gaithersburg for many years, and continues to be a fun and memorable learning adventure.

Business Expo and Shopping District – Discover valuable services for your life and home. Purchase jewelry, clothing, makeup, accessories, bedding and unique, hand-crafted gifts from a variety of vendors.

Green Zone – Learn more about how you can protect the environment, view live animal exhibits, and participate in interactive gardening demonstrations, crafts, stories and activities. View objects from Gaithersburg’s new, cutting-edge park, Constitution Gardens.

Loco-Motion: Engineering Steampunk Art

At Celebrate! Gaithersburg, part of Olde Towne will be transformed into a Steampunk haven, inspired by Gaithersburg’s historic train station built in 1884. The street will come alive with sculptures, artists and makers, and you can get in on the fun at the Selfie Station.

What is Steampunk? This creative genre of art, fashion, literature and culture is inspired by the industrial era, Victorian fashion and science fiction. Visit Loco-Motion: Engineering Steampunk Art to experience a fusion of history, fantasy and creativity. Costumes are welcome, but remember not to bring any weapons, real or fake, to the Festival. The City of Gaithersburg does not allow any toy, replica, or fantasy weapons of any kind at our Festivals. Thank you for your cooperation.
