Counselor-In-Training Program

Counselor-In-Training Program (CIT)
Inclusion Recreation Volunteer Program (IRV)

CITs assist with the overall supervision of campers during a variety of activities including sports, games, arts & crafts, and special events.  Selected candidates will be assigned to a maximum of two camp sessions.  IRVs work one-on-one with an assigned camper who has special needs.  These volunteers are responsible for including and assisting special needs campers with daily games and activities.  IRVs will be required to volunteer during all sessions that their assigned camper is registered (up to seven weeks).  Applicants must be at least 14 years old or entering 9th grade in the fall of 2013, to be considered for a position.  CITs and IRVs will only be placed at middle school sites if they are at least 16 years old or have completed 10th grade.  Listed below is a 2013 Summer Camp overview of important information to aid in your decision making.  Do not apply if you are unable to attend one of the training sessions.  Also note that preference will be given to City-resident applicants.

Please fill out the application below and return it to the Activity Center front desk.  Interviews will be conducted after receipt of your complete application.  Applications can be mailed, emailed, dropped off, or faxed (see information on the back of the application).  If you have additional questions, please contact Maura Dinwiddie at 301-258-6350 x 168 or mdinwiddie@gaithersburgmd.gov
