The Economic Development Office provides a wealth of resources to new and existing businesses within the City of Gaithersburg. Staff is available to meet with business representatives to learn more about their operations and recommend appropriate local, state or federal programs. The following local services frequently are used to assist businesses:

  • Site selection
  • Demographic information
  • Streamlined permitting (including in-house Fire Marshal)
  • Comparative tax information
  • Liaison with Montgomery County government business services
  • Small Business Development Center
  • Company visits and tours

The Director of Economic Development also maintains contacts with a wide variety of business assistance programs offered by the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development - www.mdbusiness.state.md.us

State programs include:

  • Work force training
  • Business financing
  • International marketing and foreign investment
  • Technology development and commercialization
  • Quality and productivity analysis
