Skate Spots - Lakelands and Diamond Farms Park
The City of Gaithersburg Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department has opened two new skate spots for street skating at Diamond Farm Park (857 Quince Orchard Blvd) and Lakelands Park (1368 Main Street) just in time for summer break. The skate spots are a skate at your own risk facilities and are open to the public during park hours dawn to dusk.
Skate Spot History
In the fall of 2007, an ad-hoc Committee for Skate Components within City Parks was formed in response to parental advocacy regarding the need for spontaneous, recreational activities for children afterschool. The Committee presented the results of their research and recommendations to the Mayor and City Council in December of 2009. The Youth Committee members include: Issac Gerndasy; Taylor Moore; Grant Norwood; Spencer Nystrom; Drew Thompson; Peter Turley; and Matt Wagner.
