MINUTES OF A CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
TUESDAY, MAY 3, 2011
A work session of the Mayor and City Council was called to order at 7:30 p.m., Mayor Katz presiding. Council Members present: Ashman, Drzyzgula, Marraffa, Sesma and Spiegel. Staff present: City Manager Jones, Deputy City Manager Tomasello, Director of Finance & Administration Belton, Director of Public Works Arnoult, Community and Public Relations Director Monaco, Planning and Code Administration Director Ossont, City Attorney Board, Human Resources Director Daily, Information Technology Director Cottrell, Acting Police Chief Pettaway, Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture Potter.
I. DISCUSSION TOPIC
Proposed FY 2012 Budget (Operating and Capital Improvements Budget)
City Manager Jones opened the work session with a presentation showing the FY 2012 Budget and the expenditures that were added to the proposed FY 2012 to support the Strategic Directions, the City's pay as you go philosophy and market comparability of jurisdictions in the metropolitan Washington DC area.
Speakers from the public:
- Yale Wiesberg, spoke at the hearing on employee compensation.
- Tom Rowse, spoke on economic development, Watkins Mill Interchange and building a new Senior Center.
- Dr. Christine Handy-Collins, requested changes in the allocation of not for profit funding directed to Gaithersburg High School.
There were no other speakers from the public.
At the conclusion of public comment, staff presented the FY 2012 Budget for consideration to Mayor and City Council. Staff informed the Mayor and City Council and public that the record will remain open until 5 p.m. on Monday, May 16th with anticipated adoption on Monday, June 6th. Staff announced that a work session is scheduled for Monday, June 13th to discuss the RFP and Grant Allocation Programs.
II. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before this session of the City Council, the meeting was duly adjourned at approximately 9:35 p.m.
