Citizen Canine Photo Contest

Does your licensed pooch have what it takes to be the “Citizen Canine of the Year?” If so, head to your favorite City of Gaithersburg Park and snap a few shots of your pup playing or just hanging out. Don’t forget the leash and doggie waste bags!

Here’s what you do:

1. Take a photo of your leashed dog having fun in a City park.

• For a list of Gaithersburg Parks, visit www.gaithersburgmd.gov/parks.

• All dog(s) in the photograph(s) must have a current City of Gaithersburg Pet License. To obtain a Pet License, fill out an application form at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/petlicense.

2. Download an application and e-mail, along with your photo, to: lholland@gaithersburgmd.gov by 5 p.m., June 14, 2013. (Photos MUST be in .jpg or .gif format and cannot exceed 1 MB in file size.)

3. All qualified photos (see Contest Rules) will be posted on the City of Gaithersburg Facebook page at www.facebook.com/gaithersburgmd.gov for voting.

4. Voting starts on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, and ends on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 5 p.m.

5. Invite your friends to “Like” the City of Gaithersburg Facebook page and to “Like” your photo, which will count as a “vote.”

6. The photo with the most “Likes” is the winner!

Contest Rules

• Contest is open to all City of Gaithersburg residents and dogs licensed in the City of Gaithersburg. City of Gaithersburg employees, elected officials and members of City Boards, Committees and Commissions are not eligible to participate.

• All entries must be e-mailed to lholland@gaithersburgmd.gov by 5 p.m., June 14, 2013.

• Only one entry is allowed per dog; however you may enter more than one dog into the contest. Entries may include photos of more than one dog, and if that photo is chosen as the winner, the entire group of dogs will be named “Citizen Canines of the Year.” Only one gift card per winning photo will be awarded.

• Photos MUST be in .jpg or .gif format and cannot exceed 1 MB in file size. Files not in this format will not be considered for the Contest.

• All dog(s) in the photograph(s) must be on a leash.

• All dog(s) in the photograph(s) must have a current City of Gaithersburg Pet License. To obtain a Pet License, fill out an application form at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/petlicense.

• By submitting photos to the contest, you verify that you are the photographer of each photo submitted and if the photo(s) are copyrighted you have the legal authority to assign reprint rights to the City of Gaithersburg for the purpose of this contest.

• Initial photo screening is done by City of Gaithersburg staff to ensure entries meet all contest requirements. All qualified photos will be posted on the City of Gaithersburg Facebook page(www.facebook.com/gaithersburgmd.gov) and winners will be determined by the number of Facebook “Likes” a photo receives.

• Winners will be notified via e-mail and will be announced on the City Facebook page and website on July 26, 2013. All decisions are final.

• By entering, you agree to allow the City of Gaithersburg to display your submitted photo(s) on the City website (www.gaithersburgmd.gov), the City Facebook page (www.facebook.com/gaithersburgmd.gov) and other promotional materials for the purpose of: a) displaying the submissions to and/or results of this contest and b) promoting this or future photo contests.

• Winners will receive prizes within two weeks of notification.

• Winners will be invited to march in the Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. in Olde Towne.

• Contest is free to enter.
