Griffith Park at City Hall is a medium-size park located next to Gaithersburg City Hall. There are plenty of activities to do within this park. The park has two tennis courts, a tennis wall for individual practice, an open field for various outdoor games, two half-court basketball courts, and two playground areas. There are 12 picnic tables located under a pavilion can seat approximately 100 people. Restrooms are available. Use of Griffith Park at City Hall picnic areas requires a reservation and has a use charge.

The park is named for John W. Griffith, the 11th mayor of the City of Gaithersburg. He joined the City Council in 1954 and was appointed mayor in 1966, an office he held until his death in 1967. A 1925 graduate of Gaithersburg High School, Griffith served in World War II and had a lifelong career with the Interstate Commerce Commission. Community activities included Deputy District Governor of the Gaithersburg Lions Club and board member of the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department, the Interstate Commerce Commission Federal Credit Union and Standard Savings & Loan Association. An internship for a Gaithersburg High School student was established to honor his commitment to Gaithersburg.
