Candidate Campaign Reports Available Online

Posted 9/19/2011

For the first time, candidates running for City Council in the City of Gaithersburg and political committees may use an online reporting tool to file their required campaign finance reports.  Per City code, candidates must file pre-general reports on September 19, October 3, October 17, and October 24, 2011.  They must also file a post-general report on January 3, 2012, and on December 31 of each subsequent year that their campaign account is open.

Election 2011The general public is invited to review the campaign finance reports at campaignfinancing.gaithersburgmd.gov.   This robust, searchable site allows visitors to review contributions, receipts, loans, outstanding obligations, and other pertinent financial data for candidates and political committees.  Information can also be downloaded into spreadsheets such as Excel for data analysis, allowing interested residents to sort the information as they see fit.

Voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, November 8 to elect three at-large members to the City Council.  Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Please note that polling places differ from those used in state and federal elections.  Details are available on the City website at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/elections.

Residents who are registered to vote in Montgomery County are automatically eligible to vote in the City elections.  If you are not yet registered to vote, you must do so by October 24, 2011 to qualify to vote in the November 8 election.  To confirm your registration, contact the Montgomery County Board of Elections at 240-777-VOTE or visit www.montgomerycountymd.gov.
