Go Green – Bike to Annual Celebrate Gaithersburg Festival

Posted 7/30/2009

Free Bike Valet Service Offered

Guests setting out to enjoy a full day of family fun at the 28th Annual Celebrate Gaithersburg in Olde Towne street festival on September 20, 2009 are encouraged to bike to the event.  The City of Gaithersburg’s Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) is offering free bike valet service – a safe and easy way to park your bike while participating in this year’s celebration.  The bike valet parking will be located behind the Victor Litz Music shop on East Diamond Avenue.  The parking area can be accessed using either North Summit or Brookes Avenues.

This annual event, which has drawn crowds of 40,000 people in past years, boasts five stages of live entertainment featuring the bands TONIC and Parachute, a Taste of Gaithersburg, a World Market of international artisans and crafters, a Green Zone with information and resources about the environment, and children’s activity areas and family amusements in a several block area near the intersection of Summit and Diamond Avenues in Olde Towne Gaithersburg.  It runs from Noon to 5 p.m.

For complete festival information visit www.gaithersburgmd.gov/celebrate.  For more information on the bike valet program please call 301-258-6350 or email BPAC@gaithersburgmd.gov .
