Posted 5/21/2012
Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Investigative Section arrested 23-year-old Lamont Alvin White of the 11000 block of McKay Road in Fort Washington, MD on May 20, 2012. White has been charged with second degree burglary and additional related charges.
On May 20, 2012 at 2:24 a.m., officers from the Gaithersburg and Montgomery County Police Departments were dispatched to the Lowes located at 40 Market Street in the Kentlands for an alarm. Upon arriving, the doors were found to be secured. As officers and a representative from Lowes entered the business, a suspect was heard inside the office. A perimeter was established and a search of the interior was conducted with negative results. The perimeter was maintained and the alarms were reactivated with the belief that the suspect was still inside. At 6:17 a.m., a request for additional resources such as K-9, SWAT and a helicopter were made, closing off access to the shopping center during the early morning hours. A secondary search yielded negative results.
During the investigation, White was developed as a suspect. At 1:56 p.m., police observed White on Kentlands Boulevard and placed him under arrest without incident.
White is currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
