Biblical Saga Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Comes to Arts Barn Theatre

Posted 6/15/2012

JosephIn partnership with Damascus Theatre Company, the Arts Barn presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, a family production with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The show runs June 8 through 24, 2012, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission is $18, $16 for City residents, and $9 for students through grade 12.

Travel “Way way back many centuries ago” to the land of Canaan and Egypt in this Old Testament musical from the successful Broadway duo of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The story of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this parable about a father’s favorite son who is blessed with prophetic dreams. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged.  Set to an engaging variety of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to pop and rock ‘n’ roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.

“The best kind of feel-good show, unashamed, warm-hearted and irresistible,” says the Sunday Times.

The Arts Barn, Gaithersburg’s premier cultural arts facility, is located at 311 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg.  For more information and tickets call 301-258-6394 or visit online at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/artsbarn.
