Arts Barn Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

Arts BarnThe Arts Barn, Gaithersburg’s premier cultural arts center, is holding its 10 Year Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 8, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Arts Barn at 311 Kent Square Road. This is a free event.

The celebration will feature a sampling of art classes, face painting, balloons, art and painting demonstrations, a silent auction of handmade artwork, strolling magicians, and giveaways. At 1:30 p.m. Mayor Sidney Katz and members of the City Council will cut an anniversary cake, followed by a musical performance of “The Wizard of Oz” at 2 p.m. in the theatre.  Tickets are $18, $16 for City Residents, and $9 for children through grade 12 and are required for this KAT 2nd Stage production. The cast will hold a special meet and greet and autograph signing after the performance.

Originally built in 1900 as a stable for the Tschiffely family horses, the renovated Arts Barn features a 99-seat performing arts theater, an art gallery, two artist-in-residence studios, art classes, camps, workshops, and unique retail from local artisans.
