Travel Over the Rainbow with The Wizard of Oz

Posted 8/22/2012

The Wizard of OzIn partnership with KAT 2nd Stage, the Arts Barn presents The Wizard of Oz featuring Academy Award-winning music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. The show runs September 8 through 23, with performances on Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission is $18, $16 for City residents and $9 for children through grade 12.

Based on the book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 MGM classic film, The Wizard of Oz takes the audience on a musical journey with Dorothy and Toto as a twister carries them away over the rainbow and to another world. After landing in Munchkinland, Dorothy travels with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion along the yellow brick road in search of the great and powerful Wizard of Oz.
This lively adaptation features classic songs "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "We're Off to See the Wizard" that are sure to delight the entire family.

The Arts Barn, Gaithersburg’s premier cultural arts facility, is located at 311 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg. For more information and tickets call 301-258-6394 or visit online at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/artsbarn
