Public Invited to Meet Finalists for City Manager Position
The Mayor and City Council have identified the finalists for the position of Gaithersburg City Manager. The candidate names will be announced on November 2, and the candidates will be introduced to the public and City staff on November 16 and 17.
On Friday, November 16, the candidates will have an opportunity to learn more about Gaithersburg by meeting and talking with City employees in the morning and with representatives from City boards, commissions and committees and the residential and business communities in the afternoon. Information on volunteering to participate in the public panels will be available soon. City staff and panel participants will be encouraged to provide feedback regarding each candidate on comment cards available at each session.
Interested residents are also invited to join the candidates at a “Meet and Greet” session on Saturday, November 17, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg. No reservations are necessary.
The candidates, who are scheduled to meet with the Mayor and City Council members earlier in the day, will offer brief opening remarks, and then will be available to answer questions in an informal, social setting. After meeting and talking with the candidates, attendees are encouraged to provide their feedback on comment cards, which will be available at the event.
Please help the City spread the word about the November 17th public event by forwarding and sharing this press release with community email lists and with individual residents and stakeholders.
With the feedback from staff, discussion panelists, and the general public, the Mayor and Council hope to finalize their decision in the coming weeks. The start date of the new City Manager will be contingent upon his or her availability.
