City of Gaithersburg Announces Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary Arts Award Winners

For the 22nd year the City of Gaithersburg and the Gazette Newspapers have teamed up to sponsor the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary Arts Contest for Gaithersburg area students.  This year 210 students addressed the theme, “His Dream, iAct, We Change!” Members of the City’s Multicultural Affairs and Educational Enrichment Committees selected the following winners:  Betel Tenna, a fifth grader from Goshen Elementary School, and Coronado Bolanos and Grace Harvey, fifth graders from Strawberry Knoll Elementary School.  Their essays can be viewed below. 

The students will read their essays at the Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.  The meeting is televised live on Gaithersburg Cable TV, which can be viewed on Comcast and RCN channel 13 or FiOS channel 25 within the corporate City limits.  The meeting is also streamed live and can be watched online at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/tv
