Elections - 2011 Election Information

On November 9, 2011 the Gaithersburg Board of Supervisors of Elections officially certified the winners of Gaithersburg municipal elections for City Council as Ryan Spiegel, Jud Ashman and Cathy Drzyzgula. The newly-elected officials will be sworn in at a special Mayor and Council Meeting on November 14, 2011 and will serve four year terms.
After taking authorized provisional ballots into consideration, the total number of ballots cast in the November 8, 2011 election increased from 2,895 to 2,899. The voter turnout percentage was officially 9.31%.
City Council candidate Ryan Spiegel received 2,156 votes (26.56%), Jud Ashman received 1,969 votes (24.26%) and Cathy Drzyzgula received 1,856 votes (22.86%). Tom Rowse and Paula Ross, who also ran for City Council, received 1,134 votes (13.97%) and 1,001 votes (12.33%) respectively.

Gaithersburg residents will cast their ballots for three City Council Members on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. The Council Members each serve the community at-large for a four-year term. The terms of office for Council Members Jud Ashman, Cathy Drzyzgula and Ryan Spiegel will expire in November.
The Board of Supervisors of Elections has certified five candidates to run for three at-large City Council seats. The certified candidates for the election are Jud Ashman, Cathy C. Drzyzgula, Paula Ross, Tom Rowse, and Ryan Spiegel.
- Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please note that polling places differ from those used in state and federal elections.

| Petition of Nomination Forms |
Candidates must file a petition of nomination with the City Board of Supervisors of Elections (BOSE) via the City Attorney's Office. The petition must be signed by at least 100 City residents who are qualified voters. Petitions to file for candidacy are not due until September 19, 2011.
