Environmental AwarenessIn 2000, Environmental Awareness week was held from May 7 through 13. The week included Arbor Day (May 11) and Project Day (May 13). Project Day included the plantings and clean-up activities throughout the City. Clean-up projects were conducted in the Kentlands, Lakelands, and along the Muddy Branch stream. Flower plantings took place at Christman and Malcolm King Parks. In recognition of Arbor Day, the City planted a tree at Browns Station Elementary School.

Watershed Awareness

Perception vs. Reality

68% of Americans rate themselves as having at least a fair amount of environmental knowledge.

Only 1 in 5 Americans correctly identified runoff as the most common pollutant.

Less than half of all Americans know what watershed means.
