Animal Control

The Animal Control staff is responsible for enforcing the animal control ordinance and promoting the humane treatment of all animals in an effort to maintain harmony in the environment between citizens, pets and wildlife.

The City utilizes the services provided by the Montgomery County Animal Shelter and Second Chance Wildlife Center.

Dog Exercise Area

The Dog Exercise Area in Green Park is a fenced area where you can take your dog off leash.

Pet Licensing

Dogs and cats four months of age and older must be continuously vaccinated against rabies and licensed annually.

Rabies Clinic for Dogs & Cats

The City of Gaithersburg will be participating in a Free Rabies Clinic for cats and dogs throughout the summer, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center.
