Third Write-in Candidate Certified for City Election

Carol Johnson was certified as a write-in candidate by the Board of Supervisors of Elections on October 22. There are now three candidates on the ballot & three people who have been certified as write-in candidates for the municipal elections for three City Council Members taking place on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. All Council Members serve at-large and are elected to a four-year term.
Same-day voter registration is available for the 2019 election, thus there is no deadline for voter registration. City residents who are registered to vote in Montgomery County are automatically registered to vote in City of Gaithersburg elections. Those registering at the polls on Election Day will be asked to show an approved form of identification & will be casting provisional ballots. Upon verification of the individual’s eligibility to vote, the provisional ballot will then be counted. Early voting and absentee voting are available. Regardless of precinct, registered voters in the City of Gaithersburg and those wishing to register at the polls may vote at City Hall on Saturday or Sunday, October 26 or 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applications to request an absentee ballot can be found on the City’s website or can be requested in person at City Hall.
