Gaithersburg Ranked Most Ethnically Diverse Small City & 2nd Overall City
The comparison ranked U.S. cities based on a variety of diversity metrics, including ethnicity & race, language & birthplace.
WalletHub, an online financial resource and services website for individuals and businesses, recently compared more than 500 of the largest cities in the U.S. and ranked them based on a variety of diversity metrics, including ethnicity and race, language and birthplace. Gaithersburg ranked as the second Most Culturally Diverse City amongst all communities, and was #1 in the Small City Category for communities with populations under 100,000. This is the fourth time Gaithersburg has been at the top of this list in the past five years.
“It has long been a point of pride for us to be at the top of these lists,” said Mayor Jud Ashman. “It's a great honor that also comes with a great responsibility to always do our best to support and engage such a diverse citizenry. This diversity is what makes our City such a vibrant and interesting place."
Four of the top ten most culturally diverse cities in the country are in Maryland, including Gaithersburg, Germantown, Silver Spring, and Rockville. To learn more about the study and how other communities ranked, click here.
