Gaithersburg Wins Event & Marketing Awards
The City was presented with 4 awards, the most received by any member agency, at the MRPA showcase.
At the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association “Celebrating Excellence” Showcase ceremony on February 28, 2019, the City was presented with four awards, the most received by any member agency.
SummerFest, the City’s celebration of America’s Independence, won the Maryland, My Maryland Festival of the Year award. This event, held annually at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm on the Saturday before the 4th of July, draws people from around the region to an afternoon and evening of fun family entertainment, live music, spectacular fireworks, and a SummerGlo After Party.
Three marketing tools that promote City programs, events and amenities won First Place Agency Showcase Awards in the 50,000-150,000 population category. Showcase awards recognize the best marketing and promotional materials produced by parks and recreation agencies in Maryland. The Gaithersburg Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture works with the City’s Department of Community & Public Relations to develop its marketing and advertising materials.
Best Facility Brochure was awarded for the vibrant Arts on the Green Season Brochure. Arts on the Green collectively promotes visual and performing arts programming and classes at the Arts Barn & Kentlands Mansion. A collective promotion of fall family programs at Casey Community Center won in the Best Program Flyer category. The newly redesigned City website received the award for Best Website, recognizing it as a multi-faceted online venue where residents and visitors can engage with their local government.
