Gaithersburg Collecting Supplies for End of School Year
Supplies will be distributed to Gaithersburg area schools & support grant-funded afterschool programs.
The Educational Enrichment Committee, in conjunction with the Community Services Division, announces the kick-off of a school supply collection drive. Several years ago the Committee conducted a survey of educators and found that supplies for teachers and students are in high demand during the latter part of the school year. As part of the GREAT program (Gaithersburg Recognizing Educational Achievement Today), the Committee is collecting school supplies for distribution to Gaithersburg area schools and to support grant-funded afterschool programs.
Items specifically identified by local educators include:
- Highlighters & markers
- Glue sticks
- Index cards
- White/color card stock
- Masking tape
- Pencils (regular & colored)
- Boxes of tissues
- Construction paper
- Earbuds and/or headphones (for use with Chromebooks)
- Clorox wipes
- Paper towels
- Ziploc bags
- Hand soap
- Hand sanitizer
Donations can be dropped off at City Hall, Community Services, and the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 13 through April 12. For more information please contact Community Services Program Coordinator with the Community Services Division.
