Statement on the Passing of MD House Speaker Michael E. Busch
A Statement from Mayor Jud Ashman on the passing of MD House speaker Michael E. Busch.
The Gaithersburg City Council and I, along with the entire Gaithersburg community, join all Marylanders as we mourn the passing of MD House Speaker Michael E. Busch. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to his family, friends, and colleagues in the General Assembly.
House Speaker Michael E. Busch was elected to represent the Annapolis area of District 30 in 1986 and as leader of the House of Delegates in 2003. The longest-serving speaker in Maryland’s history, Busch was a dedicated public servant, who championed passage of policies that benefited all Marylanders. He worked tirelessly to pass laws to protect the environment, increase school funding, support parks and recreation, and improve health care for thousands of Marylanders.
Michael Busch will be sorely missed by all who knew him, but his efforts on behalf of all Marylanders will be remembered for generations to come.
