Call to Chefs for Cooking Programs

Professional chefs are invited to propose “Let’s Cook@Casey” cooking programs.
Post Date:04/29/2019 1:55 PM

Casey Community Center is seeking professional chefs to develop and lead recreational programming in its licensed commercial kitchen as a part of a new suite of activities. The “Let’s Cook@Casey” program was launched in 2018 to bring the Gaithersburg community together through good food and a love of lifetime learning. Sessions have included Italian Classics, Cooking with Love, Holiday Sweets, Japanese Cherry Blossom Dinner, Cooking with Lamb, Pie in the Sky, and more. The facility is located at 810 South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.

A professional chef is considered to be anyone earning money by developing menus and preparing food. This includes personal chefs, caterers, culinary arts instructors, food truck owners, farmers market prepared food vendors, restaurant chefs, and others. Formal culinary training (or equivalent work experience) and a valid Food Managers card are required. Selected chef instructors will be compensated and their names will be included in the City’s “Let’s Cook@Casey” marketing materials.

Chef instructors are urgently needed for Spring & Summer seasonal offerings, including Grilling 101 (May 11) and Kids’ Cooking Basics (July 22 – August 2). Proposals are also being accepted for engaging new culinary topics. Chef instructors will develop and present class curricula. Themes may cover any topic related to food and beverage preparation and may be formatted as hands-on, demonstration, or lecture-style presentations.

Proposals will be considered & approved on an ongoing basis until all available positions are filled.
