The Community Museum & Boy Scout Troop 1760 will hold a Flag Day Ceremony at Olde Towne Plaza. Montgomery County Councilmember Sidney Katz will deliver remarks reflecting on the meaning of our country’s symbol. Young Artist Award winner Marin Lewis will sing the National Anthem, and Junior Mayor Diego Flores-Cerezo will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Proper disposal of the American flag is an important part of honoring its significance. Anyone with a flag in need of retirement may bring it to the Community Museum between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. starting June 1.

National Flag Day celebrates the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777. It was established by the proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson in 1916. June 14 was designated as the official day of observance by an Act of Congress signed by President Harry S. Truman in 1949.
