The Skate Park offers a range of programming options, such as group and private lessons, summer clinics, rentals for birthday parties and private events, as well as competitions, demos, and other special events. Additional amenities include vending machines, rentals for helmets, pads, and skateboards, and an outdoor stereo system.

The City’s split-skills class allows participants to progress at their own pace, with opportunities to review concepts and objectives as needed. Our skate instructors create a positive environment through a combination of group and one-on-one instruction, helping your child become a safer and more skilled skater.

After a preliminary assessment by our instructors, participants are placed in groups with skaters of similar skill levels. Beginner instruction is designed for skateboarders who can maneuver on flat surfaces, while intermediate instruction caters to skaters with some skate park experience. Students are encouraged to advance at their own pace with guidance from both group and one-on-one sessions.

To book a party, contact the Skate Park Supervisor at 301-258-6350 or email skatepark@gaithersburgmd.gov to submit your request. Parties must be booked at least one week in advance, so please submit requests as early as possible to secure your desired date. Full payment is required to confirm reservations and can only be submitted once the requested date and time are coordinated. Since skating is unsafe in rainy or wet conditions, parties will be rescheduled in case of inclement weather. Refund requests must be submitted in writing.

Learn the basics of skateboarding or enhance your skills with personalized, one-hour private lessons! Our instructors tailor each lesson to match your skill level.

Important Information:

• Prices are valid for one participant.
• Payment must be made in full at the time of registration.
• All ages are welcome.
• Skaters must bring their own skateboard.
• Use of protective rental gear during lessons is included in the cost.
• Lessons canceled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time.
• Make-up lessons will not be rescheduled for late arrivals or no-shows.

• Participation is at your own risk. The City of Gaithersburg and its agents are not liable for any injuries.
• Helmets are required for all participants. Elbow, knee pads, and wrist guards are recommended but not mandatory.
• Only use ramps within your skill level.
• Participants must remain in control at all times.
• Enter and exit through the designated area only.
• Drugs, alcohol, and smoking are prohibited.
• Profanity and littering are not allowed.
• No loitering after the facility is closed.
• Ramps are for skateboarders, inline skaters, and BMX bikers only; scooters are not permitted.
• Follow directions from City staff. Non-compliance may result in loss of skating privileges.
• Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult.
• Skating outside the designated premises is prohibited.
• Shirts must be worn by all participants.
