The City’s Strategic Plan has long been a guide for aligning our actions and budgets with our long-term goals for the community. But just as the community is not static, neither is the Plan. Beginning in the fall of 2021, we undertook an effort to reaffirm the City’s mission, vision and values, identifying who we are at our core, who we serve, and what values our employees embrace as they work each day to serve our residents.
A collaborative process involving elected officials, employees, and stakeholders throughout the community helped us define a vision, arrive at a mission statement, and identify what we value. Through planning retreats and listening sessions, we received feedback that led to the development of a five-year Strategic Plan, which was adopted by the Mayor and City Council in June of 2022. Outcome Areas have actionable items that we will use to measure and assess to ensure that we stay on track as we work to achieve our vision and fulfill our mission. A public dashboard has been created to give you the ability to follow our progress along the way.
The Plan will drive our budget. It will drive our programming, our services, our events, and our staffing. Most importantly, the Plan will drive outreach and engagement efforts, opening avenues of communication to ensure that all voices are heard and all voices are valued.
