City Manager's Office

The City Manager directs & coordinates the general administration of the City government, which includes preparation of the annual budget.

Communication & Public Engagement

The Department of Communication & Public Engagement is responsible for the City’s internal and external communications and coordination of public engagement efforts.

Community, Neighborhood & Housing Services

The Department of Community, Neighborhood & Housing Services works to preserve and increase the availability of safe affordable housing, improve access to services, create paths toward economic mobility, promote resiliency, and enhance the livability of neighborhoods.

Finance & Administration

Finance & Administration is responsible for the receipt and disbursement of City funds, financial reporting, assisting with procurement functions, and administering housing & community development grants & programs.

Gaithersburg Police Department

The Gaithersburg Police Department safeguards the lives of those within the City, enforces the laws & ordinances of the State of Maryland & the City of Gaithersburg, protects property, maintains the safe & orderly flow of traffic, and assists in securing, for all persons, equal protection of the law.

Human Resources

The Department of Human Resources is responsible for providing a centralized program of personnel administration for more than 500 City employees.

Information Technology

This department manages the City’s technology systems, including applications & systems development & operations, network & telecommunications, technical research & planning, and GIS functions.

Office of the City Attorney

The Office of the City Attorney is the primary provider of legal services to the City and is responsible for rendering legal interpretations of local, state & federal laws to the Mayor & City Council, City Manager, all Departments.

Parks, Recreation & Culture

The Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture provides quality parks, well-planned sustainable facilities, and diverse cultural, artistic & recreational opportunities & interests to promote the health & well-being of residents & visitors.

Planning & Code Administration

This department oversees growth and orderly development within the City & enforces all ordinances & codes that govern residential & commercial construction within the corporate limits.

Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining all City facilities including custodial services, utilities, repairs, supervision of construction & service contracts for all major equipment. Engineering functions include reviews of stormwater management, sediment control, storm drainage, paving & site plans for new developments.
