The City Attorney is appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council, and is the legal advisor to the Mayor and City Council, City Manager, all Departments, and all Boards and Commissions of the City Government. The Office of the City Attorney manages all outside legal counsel; represents the City in litigation and other legal disputes; serves as staff liaison to the Ethics Commission; reviews or prepares proposed Charter amendments, ordinances, resolutions and other legal documents; and provides legal advice.
