The City Attorney is appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council, and is the legal advisor to the Mayor & City Council, City Manager, all Departments, and all Boards and Commissions of the City Government. The Office of the City Attorney manages all outside legal counsel; represents the City in litigation and other legal disputes; serves as staff liaison to the Ethics Commission; reviews or prepares proposed Charter amendments, ordinances, resolutions and other legal documents; and provides legal advice.
