16 South Summit Avenue
New Police Station / Mayor & Council Chambers
The building at 16 South Summit Avenue is being renovated to house the City’s new Police Station & Council Chambers. Work continues on the interior and exterior of the building, purchased in 2016 with the goal of bringing the police facilities up to current standards and accommodating future expansion. Additions include a sally port (a secured, controlled entryway for transporting individuals in custody) and a holding area, features currently lacking at the existing station. As the Police Department requires only half of the building’s floor space, a decision was made during the design phase to relocate the Council Chambers as well, which will allow for greater viewing capacity by the public.
