The subject property is located at 601 Orchard Ridge Drive and is adjacent to the  MedImmune campus and Quince Orchard Park community.

Proposal

The City’s Department of Public Works has submitted Schematic Development Plan (SDP) application SDP-7974-2018. This application, proposes the development of a City park to serve the Quince Orchard Park, Vistas, Kentlands and greater Gaithersburg communities. The plan proposes three walking trails, two playgrounds and a butterfly garden. The proposed park straddles two parcels, both of which are zoned MXD.

No parking is proposed as part of the park development. Access to the park will be via sidewalks on the west side or Orchard Ridge Drive. The Mayor and City Council approved the name, Discovery Park, for this site at their July 16, 2018 meeting.

Status

A ribbon-cutting event was held on September 25, 2020, marking the official opening of the park.
