Proposal

The City has submitted a Sketch Plan application SK-8271-2019. This application proposes the development of a 9.54-acre park with parking, community gardens, a bicycle skills course, open space, pavilions, playgrounds, fitness pods, walking trails, and an up to 15,000-square-foot building.

CPSC Park Sketch Plan

A new parking lot will be constructed at the park’s west boundary. Vehicular access to the park will be through the drive that extends from Darnestown Road. Pedestrians will be able to access the site from Darnestown Road via a path that will be located parallel to the access drive into the park. Pedestrians will also be able to access the park from Marsh Lane. A Ride-On bus stop is located on Darnestown Road at the park entrance.

Status

A joint public hearing of the Planning Commission and Mayor & City Council for Sketch Plan application SK-8271-2019 is scheduled for December 2, 2019.

Ad Hoc Committee

In June 2015, the Mayor & City Council appointed the Former CPSC Site Planning Ad Hoc Committee to review the property and make recommendations for its use. The committee met from January to April 2016. Site tours were planned during the process in preparation for a presentation of concept plans to the Mayor & City Council.
