The Final Report was presented publicly on Thursday July 25, 2024 at 7 PM at the Casey Community Center located at 810 S Frederick Avenue. In the coming months, the City will prioritize study concept plans and place them in the Capital Improvement Program to begin further design and implementation. Upon implementation, specific community outreach will begin for each concept area.

Phase 3, Post-Field Prioritization and Model Development, is complete. Currently, the project team is developing neighborhood level concept plans based on a post-field prioritization matrix. The original schedule has been delayed due to a change in scope moving from individual site specific concept plans to larger neighborhood level concept plans. Phase 4, Final Report and Public Presentation, is now planned to begin Summer 2024 with the final report being presented late-Summer early Fall 2024.

Community Meeting #1 is complete and feedback was used to finish the remaining areas of interest for field investigation. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document and a copy of the presentation can be found under the Documents section. Currently, the project team is reviewing and analyzing field investigation data in order to prepare for the next phase of the study, modeling and closed-circuit television of priority storm drain segments.

Field investigation, modeling, and preliminary project location results will be presented at Community Meeting #2, which is planned for Spring 2023. An in-person Community Meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park. The meeting will include a general overview of the project’s progress and an open discussion with the community. To register to participate, e-mail stormwater@gaithersburgmd.gov. Postcards will also be sent to resident addresses that are located within the study area. The meeting will be recorded and posted on the City of Gaithersburg YouTube account. The Headwaters Drainage Study survey is now complete and responses have been analyzed. To view survey response data, use the Survey Data Visuals link under the Documents section. With several point of interest areas, the consultant will begin field assessment data collection this week and conclude mid-November. Following field assessment data collection, the City and Consultant plan to schedule a Community Meeting sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The City will send meeting notifications via postcards, the inGaithersburg Weekly eNewsletter, social media and this project page when a specific date is confirmed.

The Headwaters Drainage Study survey is now live and will close on Monday August 15, 2022. The purpose of this survey is to find out where large storms and heavy rainfalls impact the community. Your answers will directly help fund projects that protect your property and the community from flooding. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. Your survey responses will be kept confidential and be reported on in aggregate to Gaithersburg’s Mayor and City Council.
