Introduction
The Department of Public Works is replacing the playground at Morris Park, 520 Summit Hall Road. The playground equipment at Morris Park is 20 years old and has reached the end of its useful service life. Due to its age, condition and safety considerations, it was scheduled for replacement in the FY 23 Budget.
The State of Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources Community Parks & Playgrounds Program will be providing funds for this project via a grant.
The City plans to replace the playground at Morris Park in two (2) phases. The first phase will be to close the playground to remove all the old playground equipment and to prepare the site to rough grade conditions. This first phase will be performed by City Staff. This first phase will last approximately three (3) weeks. Immediately following the completion of the first phase, the second phase will begin with the Contractor mobilizing to the site and preparing the site to final grade, installing all the new playground equipment, installing borders and playground safety surfacing. This second phase will last approximately 3 three weeks.
