Synthetic Turf Field
The eco-friendly synthetic turf field at Lakelands Park has unique properties due to its organic infill of rice husks, coconut fiber and cork, natural materials not implicated in health concerns raised with artificial turf fields using black rubber infill. The synthetic turf field is used for City programming, for Lakelands Park Middle School, and for others through a rental reservation process.
The fall season of weekend community open play use of the Lakelands Turf Field will begin Saturday, September 8, 2018, and conclude, Sunday November 18, 2018. No formal practices during open play. The hours of community use are:
- Saturdays 4 – 6 p.m.
- Sundays 12 – 2 p.m.
Guidelines for the use of the synthetic turf field:
- No pets are allowed on the surface
- No food is allowed (this includes gum & sunflower seeds)
- No liquids other than water may be consumed on the field
- No sharp objects, including tent stakes & flag corners, may be used
- No unauthorized vehicles or bicycles are allowed on the field
