Financial Assistance may be provided to City Residents for recreation programs. Eligibility is based on residency, family’s prior year’s household income & family size.

Only residential addresses within the Corporate City Limits of Gaithersburg will be considered. Not all Gaithersburg mailing addresses are within the Corporate City Limits. Please use our Address & Parcel Map to see if your residence falls within corporate city limits.

Financial assistance of 10-90% is applied as a discount off the advertised resident price of each program.

• Assistance for spring and summer camp programs is limited to a maximum of $800 per child per year.
• Assistance for eligible non-camp programs for youth and adults (aquatics, classes, sports and City trips for youth) is limited to a maximum of $250 per person per year.

• Application Period: Applicants may apply anytime during the year starting in January. Applications must be renewed annually.
• Submission Options: Completed applications and documentation can be submitted at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park or via email.
• Expiration: Once approved, financial assistance expires on December 31, regardless of the application date.
• Income and Residency Verification: The City reserves the right to require further documentation to establish household income and residency for each family member listed on the application. In certain cases, proof of parentage or legal guardianship may be required for dependent children.
• Incomplete applications will not be processed including those that are not signed and dated.
• Processing Time: Applications with all required documentation will be processed within 5–7 business days.
• Approval Requirement: Financial assistance applications must be approved prior to registration for any program where assistance will be used.
• Program Registration:
  • Spaces are not held while applications are being processed, and space cannot be guaranteed.
  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Applicants are responsible for paying all fees not covered by financial assistance at the time of registration. Registrations are processed after payment is received.
  • Some registration fees are not covered by financial assistance.

Address on documentation must match name & address on application. Copies will not be returned.

• Copy of 2025 Federal 1040 tax return if filed with IRS
• Copy of Benefit or Approval letter for 2025 State, Federal and other public assistance (if applicable)
• Copy of supporting documentation for 2025 non-public assistance, including family support (if applicable)
• Copy of current lease or mortgage statement or notarized shared housing agreement or property tax bill
• Copy of recent electric bill or water bill or gas bill
