The Office of Economic Development oversees economic development programs & services, assisting existing and potential businesses & industries, preparing marketing materials & strategies, and acting as a liaison between the City & the business community.

The role of Gaithersburg's environmental program is to understand environmental concerns, develop strategies, and make decisions consistent with the City's Mission & Strategic Plan that protect & enhance our environmental resources.

The Neighborhood Services Team is responsible for administering & enforcing a wide variety of City Codes regarding property maintenance, public nuisances, rental housing, landlord-tenant relations, vendors & home-based businesses.

The City offers a variety of online services including registration for Alert Gaithersburg, inGaithersburg e-mail newsletters, and a variety of recreation programs, speed camera & parking ticket payments, submission of surveys & traffic violations, and status & details of planning & permit applications.
Passport applications are accepted by appointment only at City Hall, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Call to schedule an appointment.
The division provides permitting & inspection services for all construction including building, electrical, mechanical, fire systems, grading & sediment control, forest conservation, new road construction, storm drains, & stormwater management, improvements for the purpose of public safety & ensuring quality private & public infrastructure.

The Gaithersburg Police Department is a nationally-accredited law enforcement agency that shares responsibility for services with the Montgomery County Police, providing coverage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Services include street & alley pavement maintenance such as spot patching, crack sealing & resurfacing; constructing, maintaining & repairing sidewalks, concrete curbs & gutters; street sweeping; mowing & median beautification; & snow removal.
The City contracts with a private hauler for the collection of newspapers, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, commingled cans, glass containers & plastic bottles.
The Benjamin Gaither Center serves residents of Gaithersburg & the surrounding area by offering a variety of classes, trips, special events, activities & a lunch program for those 55 years of age & older.
