We place tremendous value on the work that you do to support residents in the Gaithersburg area, and we are very grateful for your efforts, especially in these challenging times. Gaithersburg prides itself on delivering excellent services to those who live and work here. This would not be possible without your continued partnership.
By our original schedule, we had planned to make grant recommendations to our elected officials for the FY21 School & Nonprofit School grants and to open the grant portal for FY21 Community Service grants the week of April 13. Due to the current public health crisis, that schedule must be adjusted.
Facing unprecedented revenue shortfalls, the City’s elected leadership will have to make challenging decisions as they attempt to balance the FY21 budget. We are suspending grant recommendations until after the Budget Public Hearing and Work Session so that we will have additional guidance on how best to support our community both during the public health crisis and during the recovery period. Our grant review committees anticipate meeting in early May to discuss allocation recommendations for grant funding.
You are welcome to comment during the Budget Public Hearing on Monday, April 20, and during the Budget Work Session on Monday, April 27, both at 7:30 p.m. Note that these meetings will be virtual, and if you want to comment live during the meeting, you must pre-register by 2 p.m. the day of the meeting. Instructions are available here. You may also comment via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The best way to view the meetings is on the City’s YouTube channel @GburgMD.
