City issued Fire Protection Permits are required for the following:

  • Sprinkler systems – new installations and alterations
  • Fire alarms - new installations and alterations
  • Fire protection hood and duct systems -new installations and alterations
  • Standpipe systems
  • Clean agent systems
  • Smoke control systems
  • Other fixed suppression systems
  • Blasting, explosives, fireworks, and pyrotechnics
  • Floor resurfacing involving flammable liquids

Early submission of Fire Systems Permits is encouraged to avoid delays. Permits may be submitted concurrently with building permits and will be reviewed together. Fire Protection Permits are issued once the associated building permit is approved.
