A City-issued Sign Permit is required for:

  • Installation of any permanent building sign
  •  Installation of any temporary sign

Required Application Materials

  • Sign drawings, including elevations and measurements showing the proposed sign location
  • A site plan or building elevations identifying where the sign will be placed
  • Property Owner Approval Letter

Sign contractors must submit a separate permit application. All work must comply with Article 600 of City Code, Chapter 7.

Additional Requirements for Signs with Electrical Components

  • All signs must have an exterior disconnect switch located on or within the sign (City Code, Chapter 7).
  • Neon signs must be enclosed or installed at least 8 feet above the adjacent floor surface.
  • Show windows must include a receptacle/outlet for every 12 linear feet of window length (NEC 210.62).

Monument Signs

Plans for monument signs must include footing details.

Additional Information

Article 8 of the City Code outlines all signage standards (Article 8 – Signage Standards). Some properties may also be subject to approved design or sign guidelines that include requirements beyond City Code.
