A Residential Mechanical Permit is required for the installation or removal and replacement of any permanently installed HVAC mechanical unit.
All mechanical work is required to be performed by the Maryland Board of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors and hold a valid (HVACR) License. You can search a contractor's HVACR license through the Maryland Board of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors.
Additionally, the contractor must have a Maryland Home Improvement (MHIC) License. You can search this license through the Maryland Home Improvement Commission.
