Alert Gaithersburg is a notification system that can immediately contact subscribers during an emergency or relay time-sensitive weather, traffic and public safety information. It delivers important emergency alerts, notifications and updates to several electronic devices simultaneously, including multiple e-mail accounts (work, home, etc.), and cell phones.
Many events can significantly disrupt our lives. With the Alert Gaithersburg system we are able to communicate quickly and efficiently to Gaithersburg residents and other interested individuals. It is our goal to have all residents subscribe to this critical service.
When an incident or emergency occurs, authorized senders can quickly notify individuals with guidance, such as instructions on where to go, what to do, or what not to do, who to contact and other important information. This system also allows emergency messages from Montgomery County's Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security to be sent via the Alert Gaithersburg system.
Individuals will automatically receive emergency messages from the City of Gaithersburg and Montgomery County Government, and may opt to receive Smart Weather notifications as well as messages regarding traffic incidents impacting the City of Gaithersburg and Montgomery County.
Please note that while signing up for Alert Gaithersburg is free of charge, your wireless carrier may charge a fee to receive messages. Please check your wireless service agreements for details. Alert Gaithersburg messages will be kept as short as possible to minimize the impact of any carrier fees.
The Alert Gaithersburg system is funded and maintained with grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
