Deeply committed to the community-oriented policing philosophy, City officers respond to calls for service as necessary and utilize community action teams, when appropriate, to solve problems and address issues affecting the safety of all City neighborhoods.

In addition to providing traditional law enforcement services, all members of the department are actively involved in improving the quality of life in the City through problem-solving, gathering information, providing victim support services, patrolling on foot and by vehicle, and conducting educational programs. Specialty assignments include: Criminal Investigator, Street Crimes Unit, K9 Unit, Firearms Instructor, Traffic Unit, Taser Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, MCP Decentralized SWAT opportunities, Background Investigator, School Resource Officer, and Community Service Officer.
