A lateral-hire applicant certified by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) does not attend the police academy but is assigned to a 5-week Field Training Program.

Applicants certified as law enforcement officers in another state or in federal service must attend a MPCTC-certifying police academy in addition to completing the Field Training Program.

  • Starting salary: $72,450 - $82,337 (based on prior police experience)
