The Special Operations Bureau consists of the Crime Analyst Section, Community Services Office, School Resource Officer, Criminal Investigations Section, Street Crimes Unit, Traffic Safety Unit, and the K-9 Unit. All of these specialized units work directly with the patrol officers to focus on crime patterns and areas of concern within the community

Investigations Section

The Investigations Section is charged with the responsibility of investigating criminal acts, internal investigations and new employee background investigations.

Street Crimes Unit

“The Street Crimes Unit (SCU) addresses crime patterns, gathers intelligence, and enforces narcotic laws and acts as a liaison with similar units of allied agencies to de-conflict or coordinate investigations.

Traffic Safety Unit

The Traffic Safety Unit is supervised by the Traffic Sergeant and is allocated two specially trained Traffic Safety Officers, two part-time Parking Enforcement Officer, and two full-time Speed Camera Technicians. Their mission is to improve traffic safety and reduce personal injury collisions.

The Traffic Safety Unit police officers work varied hours to address traffic safety issues when and where they are occurring. The Parking Enforcement Officer works a varied schedule according to workload and citizen complaints.
