Services include, but are not limited to, street pavement maintenance such as spot patching, crack sealing and resurfacing; constructing, maintaining and repairing sidewalks, concrete curbs and gutters; street sweeping; mowing and median beautification; and snow removal.

Snow Removal

Residents and business owners in Gaithersburg are required to remove snow and ice from the public sidewalks abutting their property within 12 hours of the last precipitation.

This activity provides for the preservation of nearly 93 miles of City maintained streets in a serviceable condition.

Street Lighting

The City’s street lighting program is designed to provide well-lighted streets throughout the City, thereby increasing pedestrian and vehicular safety, suppressing crime and increasing street capacities.

Recycling & Bulk Pick Up

The City contracts with a private hauler for the collection of newspapers, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, commingled cans, glass containers and plastic bottles. The recycling contractor also collects brush, branches, grass clippings, leaves and other yard trimmings.
