Corrugated Cardboard

Examples: Heavy brown cardboard with a wavy center used for shipping (distinct from thin paperboard like cereal boxes).

Accepted: Flatten boxes before recycling.

Not Accepted:

  • Pizza boxes or boxes contaminated with food or grease.
  • Wax-coated boxes.
  • Boxes must be plain cardboard without Styrofoam, plastic film or plastic wrap.
Mixed Paper

Mixed Paper

Examples:

  • White and colored paper, computer paper, junk mail, magazines, envelopes, file cards, paper bags, shoe boxes, cereal boxes, egg cartons (cardboard), paper To-Go cups, and books (including paperbacks, textbooks, hardbacks, and telephone books).
  • Shredded paper (should be contained in a paper bag that is rolled closed).

Accepted:

  • Hot and cold beverage paper To-Go cups (e.g., coffee cups with sleeves and soda cups).
  • Plastic windows and staples in paper items are acceptable; removal is not necessary.
  • If using biodegradable yard trim bags for recyclable paper, clearly label the bag with its contents.

Not Accepted:

  • Napkins, paper towels, tissues.
  • Paper or cardboard contaminated with paint, chemicals, food, kitty litter, water, or other substances.
  • Wax-coated cartons (including Tetra Paks, milk, juice and ice cream cartons).
  • Foil gift wrap.
